Q: Why does my child need to attend a player evaluation or tryout for Little League baseball?

A: Player evaluations are to help ensure WPLL can place players properly and as evenly as possible in each respective division.  Tryouts are held to allow players to display their skill set in a small sample size for each respective team to draft players according to their roster needs.  Failure to attend a tryout removes that players ability to be drafted or selected for All-Star tournament teams, and is frowned upon as it does not give your child a chance to participate.

Q: What if my child is not drafted into a draft eligible division?

A: All players registered while registration is open will be assigned to a WPLL team.  In the upper divisions any player who is not drafted on to a Majors team is assigned to a Minor division team.  A player not drafted by a Junior team is assigned to the Intermediate (50/70) division.

Q: Does WPLL need volunteers?

A: Absolutely!!  Please consider becoming a league volunteer.  Little Leagues are volunteer organizations.  WPLL works with our volunteers around their personal availability.  Register for volunteer roles when registering your child or after by selecting the role you are interested in under the volunteer tab at the top of the screen.

Q: Are canceled registrations subject to fees?

A: WPLL understands mistakes happen.  No fees will be applied against your registration payment until uniforms have been ordered.  If uniforms have been ordered a uniform fee of $45.00 will be applied to any cancelled registrations.  Additional fees may be be applied depending on league expenses once the season begins.

Q: What are team practice schedules?

A: Each team manager picks his/her practice days and times around their availability and what the league has the ability to offer.  WPLL reserves the fields 7 days a week for West Pasco Little League practices.  Parents should enter under the "special requests" if specific days of the week are not preferred for practice.  However, there is no way to determine what day(s) your player will practice until after he or she is placed on a team.  Registering early helps us ensure your child is placed on a team with appropriate availability.  Team managers are not informed of their official practice times until they attend the leagues team manager meeting.  Many teams do practice Sunday's to increase field practice time.

Q: When should parents hear from a league official?

A: Parents with players registered in a draft division will receive an email from a league official by January 10th. Thereafter parents should expect to hear from their team managers after the team manager meeting when they receive their official rosters.  The expected date of the team manager meeting is currently January 18th.

Q: What should I do if it is telling me I am "out of league boundary"?

A: All players new to WPLL should click on the link below and enter your residence or school address.  Players participating in Little League baseball should join the appropriate league.  Some other little leagues promote applying for waivers to join their league or worse not make parents aware registering outside of your specific leagues boundary without proper paperwork will cost your child an opportunity to participate in end of season tournaments (All-Stars).  WPLL will encourage you to register with your appropriate league for the benefit of your child playing with kids in their community and those they are more likely to see in school this year and in future years.  However, if you wish to apply to join WPLL on a waiver you must email [email protected].  A written request will be needed to apply for any such waiver.
http://www.littleleague.org/LeagueFinder.htmAll players registered at WPLL will have their address verified.  If not within our boundary or accompanied by an appropriate email, a refund will be issued to register with your zoned league.
