A - Coach Pitch Division

The "A" ball division is for players league age 5 - 6 (league age calendar) who have played a season of tee ball. If registering for this division please note which team or league your child(ren) played for last when registering. The roster sizes are kept smaller in this division than older division but will typically be larger than the tee ball division. The smaller roster sizes ensure your son/daughter have more one on one instruction to begin establishing a solid foundation of baseball fundamentals, while maximizing the enjoyment of youth sports.

"A" baseball games are on Saturday's. A night game, at the end of the season, will be scheduled during the week. On rare occasion depending on head coach's availabilities a weekday game may be scheduled.

"A" ball teams practice once per week. The teams practice day is determined by the head coach. Additional practices may be added by the head coach. If a specific day(s) of the week is/are not feasible for your family please include this information in the special request box when completing registration.

WPLL does typically seek head coaches in this division. If you feel you can offer knowledge and structure for this age group please volunteer for a head coach or an assistant coach role when registering your child. WPLL offers coaching coordinators to assist head coaches, as needed.

Requests for a specific coach or friend(s) are granted up to team roster limits in this division. There are player evaluations for players new to WPLL or moving up from the tee ball division.

WPLL Single A Ball Division Rules

WPLL "A" BALL DIVISION RULES

1.) "A" ball is instructional. No score will not be kept at any time.

2.) Games are 1 hour and 15 minutes.

3.) Managers/Coaches are allowed and encouraged, as needed, to assist batters and fielders.

4.) Players will be given an opportunity to play every defensive position.

5.) Each team will have all of their players in the field. (There are no “bench” players)

6.) The batting order will be rotated each inning.

7.) Each half inning the offensive team will bat through their entire lineup. The last hitter of each half inning will result in a base clearing home run.

8.) Coach pitch will begin from the start of the season. After the midpoint of the season machine pitch may be introduced for some or all batters if the head coach of that respective team deems appropriate.

9.) The player in the pitcher position should not leave the pitching circle clay until the ball is hit.

10.) There is no catcher position in this division.

12.) Base runners are not to leave the base until the ball is put in play. No base stealing.

13.) All runners stop at the base they are in the act of running to when the baseball is or comes back to the infield. No advancing on an overthrow.

14.) For Saturday games, if there is a team waiting for the field at the conclusion of a game, please clear the dugout & field. Have team meetings off the field so we can keep all games on schedule.

15.) Players, volunteers, and parents please clean out the dugout and bleachers prior to leaving the field.

16.) West Pasco Little League is a NO SMOKING park. We do not allow the use of ANY tobacco products during practices and/or games except at the designated smoking areas located beyond the OF fences in left or right field of each field. This includes vaping and e-cigarettes. Failure to adhere could result in a fine.

Please remember the reason we all get involved is for the kids. Please make sure they learn not only the game of baseball but also good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect for others. Most of all HAVE FUN!!
