WPLL "A" Ball Division Rules
.) "A" ball is instructional. The scoreboard will not be used at any time. Game changer will be used.
.) Games are scheduled to be 1 hour and 15 minutes.
.) Managers/Coaches are allowed and encouraged, as needed, to assist batters and fielders.
.) Players will be given an opportunity to play every defensive position.
.) Each team will have all of their players in the field. (There are no “bench” players)
.) The batting order will be rotated each game.
.) Each half inning the offensive team will either be retired with 3 outs recorded or when the offensive team bats through their entire lineup one time.
.) Coach pitch, up to 6 overhand pitches, will begin from the start of the season. After the 3rd game of the season machine pitch, up to 3 pitches, may be introduced for some or all batters if the head coach of that respective team deems appropriate. If no ball is put in play after 3 pitches the HC is to resume soft toss up to 3 additional pitches up until a strike out is recorded or a ball is put in play. Strikes do carry over from machine pitch to coach pitch.
.) The player in the pitcher position should not leave the pitching circle clay until the ball is hit.
.) The catcher position will not be used defensively in this division.
.) Base runners are not to leave the base until the ball is put in play. No base stealing.
.) Runners shall not advance beyond the base they are in the act of running to once an infielder has control of the baseball in the clay, including foul territory.
.) An overthrow, to 1st base only, by the defensive team, on a ball put in play may result in no more than one additional base, at the runners own risk, for any ball hit in play.
.) For Saturday games, if there is a team waiting for the field at the conclusion of a game, please clear the dugout & field. Have team meetings off the field so we can keep all games on schedule.
.) Coaches & players please clean out the dugout before leaving. Parents, volunteers, and coaches please ensure bleachers and spectator areas are clean and clear prior to leaving the field.
.) West Pasco Little League is a NO SMOKING park. We do not allow the use of ANY tobacco products during practices and/or games except at the designated smoking areas located beyond the OF fences in left or right field of each field. This includes vaping and e-cigarettes. Failure to adhere could result in a fine.
Please remember the reason we all get involved is for the kids. Please make sure they learn not only the game of baseball but also good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect for others. Most of all HAVE FUN!!
