West Pasco Little League

Majors Information

The "Major" division is for players league age 9 - 12.  Spring rosters have 11-12 players per team.  In the fall season rosters can range from 10-13 players per team, typically.  This division is a competitive but still fun and instructional.  This is a kid pitch division.

One of the biggest changes for players and parents to adjust to is that from the Major Division upward playing time rules change for players.  Please see little league international blue book rules.  WPLL in house rules ensure players will play no less than 6 defensive outs along with their place in the continuous batting order per the standard 6 inning game.

Games will be Monday and Thursday primarily with the possibility of a Wednesday or a weekend game.  There are also opportunities for teams to travel and play teams from other leagues.

Teams practice once per week and often also on Sunday.  The teams practice day is determined by the team manager.  If specific day(s) of the week is/are not feasible for your family please be sure to include the special request portion when completing registration.

Coach / Friend requests are considered but not guaranteed.  In Spring players must be drafted onto a team.  Fall rosters are kept from the prior Spring season and new players to the division are added to existing team rosters.  Players new to WPLL are assigned to keep league competitive based on information given/known to the league.  A player drafted to a team remains on that roster through the players league age eligible time in the Major Division.  For example a player drafted at league age 10 will remain on that roster for any spring and fall ball seasons registered through league age 12 spring season up to a total of 2.5 years or 5 playing seasons.  Any player moves must be approved by managers of the respective teams, the league's player agent, and the league president.

In spring there is a tryout that players must attend to be eligible for the draft by a major division team & All-Star teams.  All players who register for the spring season who are league age 9, 10, 11, or 12 are assigned a tryout time by the league.  At the tryout players are being evaluated by the major managers to be considered for their teams upcoming draft to fill their roster allotment.  All league age 12 players will be drafted to a major teams roster.  Parents, please be aware refusal to participate in the tryout results in the player being ineligible for post season (All-Star) tournament play.
