Team Manager

Team Manager

Team Manager is a crucial role for any little league program.  At West Pasco Little League we value our volunteers and give them the support they need and/or seek to be successful.  A noncredit background check is required for all league volunteers.

A team manager is the head coach of a team.  As a team manager you are volunteering to be the standard bearer for a West Pasco Little League team.  WPLL works with our team managers to ensure a team managers availability is valued.  Team practices are set around a team managers availability.  Team games are also scheduled with your availability in mind and plenty of flexibility exists.

Team managers make such an impact on the players they over see every season.  WPLL wants the best for the children and families in our league.  WPLL offers team managers the resources to be successful.  Resources include but are not limited to: a coaching coordinator (a resource to speak to about any matters involving the team), baseballs, team equipment bag, and more.  All WPLL asks is for your time and dedication to the team.

We have varying levels of teams.  Most often we seek dads/moms to begin being a team manager in the younger divisions so that like players you too develop in the role and build the social network with your peer group.  A great time to enter into being a team manager is in the tee ball or AA "Rookies" division.  This does not mean first time managers do not start after these two age groups.  WPLL also appreciates community members who choose to dedicate their time to being a team manager even if they do not have a child on their respective roster.

Every season team managers are selected by the league president and then must be approved by the leagues Board of Directors.  Ensuring you, as a team manager or any volunteer for WPLL, conduct yourself with the highest ethics is paramount.  The more knowledge of the game of baseball and/or making the experience for the players rewarding and enjoyable factor into team managers returning season after season.  It is not about winning!  It is about player development and building a solid foundation with the families of the players on your roster.

If you would like to be considered for a team manager role please register!  First time managers coming into the WPLL program are asked to do a phone interview.  This interview helps ensure expectations are clear for both the WPLL program and the prospective team manager to have answers to any questions they may have about being a team manager.  The interview typically takes no more than 15 minutes but the rewards you receive for filling this role far exceed what you would expect as you see your players grow and develop not only as players but more importantly as individual citizens.
